VAU RENOU CAVE
DISCOVER THE PLACE
A magical and surprising place. A skylight in the middle of the vineyards that opens onto an underground cave where barrels, butts and amphora rub shoulders
In the 1960’s, Claude Amirault (the father of Thierry and Xavier) acquired a great stone quarry at a “candle” auction from Olivier Gendebien (a famous racing driver and four-times winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours race).
With the help of several colleagues and local winegrowers, he converted it into a cave for ageing wine. The hundreds of meters of galleries are accessible by tractor and allow the ageing of our wines in demi-muids (500L oak barrels) at a constant temperature of 13˚c throughout the year.
